The summer after 2nd year university, I found out I won a scholarship that would cover my entire tuition, so I took my cheque and travelled around Europe by myself for 2 weeks and then lived and worked in London for the rest of the summer. Without knowing where I was going to live or work until I arrived in London, to this day, it is one of the scariest things I've ever done and am so happy that I did it. After a week of crashing on my friend's cousin's couch and 2 days of rooming in a hostel, I ended up finding a student house that had just emptied out in the Finsbury Park area. I had the whole house to myself for 2 weeks until a Spanish trio of the most amazing people ever moved in from Madrid- Sandra, Vanessa, and Sergio became my roomies and instant friends. We had very similar interests (food, shopping, music... y'know, the essentials) and at the end of the summer made a tearful goodbye. 6 years later, in 2009, I finally made it to Madrid and we celebrated our reunion.

Here's Madrid Flashback:

Night out in Malasaña after binging at Casa Lucio and several other tapas bars that are now a blur to me in La Latina

Sergio, Sandra, and Vanessa made a homecooked feast for Dan and I at their home in Getafe
